Sugar Bowl Resort is looking for a Terrain Park Supervisor to lead the team that builds and maintains a consistent, safe, high-quality Freestyle Terrain Park - our Terrain Park Groomer I through IV crew. You’ll own the standard of excellence for the park: planning and scheduling the work, directing your team night after night, and appraising their performance and growth over the season. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows what a great terrain park looks, rides, and feels like, and genuinely enjoys building both features and people. Working closely with the Terrain Park Manager and the Snow Surfaces Director, you’ll set the vision for the park, then lead your crew through building it - creating a safe, fun, efficient, and productive environment for the whole team.

Who You Are
- Energetic, motivated, friendly, and outgoing, with strong customer service and genuine leadership skills
- At least 5+ seasons of prior Terrain Park experience
- A proven leader who inspires, mentors, and develops others through professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitudeDeep knowledge and skill in designing, building, and maintaining fluid, creative, and safe terrain parks
- Passionate about terrain park design, snow surfaces, and creating superlative Terrain Parks, Park events and athlete training scenarios
- Excellent skiing/riding skills, including strong knowledge of freestyle disciplines
- A track record of developing operators across skill levels, from entry-level through advanced feature builders
- Strong understanding of risk management as it applies to terrain park design and features
- Adaptable and composed under changing weather, snow conditions, and operational demands
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Comfortable operating a snowcat, including winch cat operation on demanding terrain
- Able to apply sound judgment to carry out detailed written or oral instructions, and resolve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
- Open to learning new skills and supporting other departments as needed; a versatile, team-first mindset
What You’ll do
- Directly supervise, schedule, and coach the Terrain Park Groomer I, II, III, and IV team
- Set and uphold a high standard of excellence for the Freestyle Terrain Park; consistent, safe, and high quality, night after night
- Build and maintain a yearly schedule of rail/box maintenance and construction
- Plan, assign, and direct nightly and seasonal maintenance and construction tasks across the team
- Schedule operators, host daily grooming meetings and execute nightly plans accordingly
- Lead, mentor, and develop the terrain park grooming crew and train all operators to ensure persistent improvements in all aspects of resort operations
- Evaluate operator performance, provide direct coaching and feedback, and appraise performance over the season
- Ensure a safe, fun, efficient, and productive work environment for the team
- Own terrain park design and layout decisions, ensuring safe designs that flow with traffic and natural terrain
- Partner with the Terrain Park Manager on park priorities, resource needs, and seasonal planning
- Model and enforce all safety procedures and risk management practices across the team
- Operate a snowcat as needed, including winch cat operation on the park’s most demanding features
- Adhere to employee handbook policies and set a professional example for the team
- Complete and oversee scheduling, reporting, and documentation for the department
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Terrain Park Manager
- Cross-train and lend a hand in other departments as needed, building a broader understanding of resort operations beyond the terrain park.
- Take advantage of opportunities to learn new skills across the resort, supporting a well-rounded, team-first approach to the guest experience.
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable sitting for extended periods while operating a snowcat, with frequent climbing on and off the machine
- Capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions, often during late evening and early morning hours
- Able to shovel and clear snow, including heavy, wet snow, as needed
- Steady footing and balance for navigating steep, icy, or uneven terrain on and off equipment
- Comfortable working in proximity to moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery
- Manual dexterity for equipment inspection, maintenance checks, and machinery operation
- Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to safely operate machinery, supervise a crew in the field, and monitor changing weather and trail conditions
- Strong, confident skiing/riding ability to inspect and evaluate terrain features firsthand
